TAMPA, Fla. (November 15, 2023) – Professional engineers from across Florida will converge on Tampa this Friday, November 17, 2023, to build bunk-beds for Tampa’s underprivileged children.

These professionals are members of the Florida Engineering Society and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida, and they are teaming up with volunteers from the national organization Sleep in Heavenly Peace to construct the beds. The beds will be delivered to children and families in need.

There are far too many young children in need of a bed to sleep in. A bed is a basic need for proper physical, emotional and mental support, and all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads.

Florida’s engineers have previously supported Sleep in Heavenly Peace, through its Florida Engineering Leadership Institute program, which raised tens of thousands of dollars to build beds in Jacksonville, Miami, Tallahassee and Tampa.
