President’s Message: January 2025
ACEC Florida President Andy Lauzier, PE
To the ACEC Florida Community,
Contemplating what lies ahead in 2025, it seems as though this year, like so many others, will be filled with new and hopefully exciting challenges. To quote Yogi Berra, “The future ain’t what it used to be.”
With a new Administration and Congress in Washington, DC, and the inevitable policy changes that will take place, I am truly thankful that we have such a strong voice in DC as ACEC National. In her most recent update from ACEC National, Linda Bauer Darr noted, “For our industry, 2025 will be a year of change, perhaps even a little uncertainty, but mostly a year of tremendous opportunity.” I encourage you to read (and sign up for ACEC’s Newsletters). Linda’s entire update is always very informative from the National perspective.
And while we all anticipate great things in 2025, we have witnessed the devastation of the wildfires in California since earlier this month. Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected, and we are so thankful for the First Responders and many others who, as always, step up to help our fellow citizens. Like so many disasters, there are lessons to be learned, and engineers will be there to help the communities affected by these fires recover and build back better and stronger.
Please take a moment to review all the upcoming events listed in the January newsletter, particularly PE Legislative Days, March 18-19, in Tallahassee. I hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Andre’ (Andy) Lauzier, PE (FL, GA)
