President’s Message: June 2025
ACEC Florida President Richard G. Acree, PE
To the ACEC Florida Community,
As we approach the close of ACEC Florida’s fiscal year on June 30, I want to thank you, our members, for your continued support and engagement over the past twelve months. Your commitment to the engineering profession and this organization is what makes our work impactful and our voice stronger at every level.
In May, ACEC Florida was proud to be well represented at the ACEC National Convention and Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C. ACEC Florida met with members of Congress to advocate for issues critical to our industry. These face-to-face conversations help ensure the engineering profession remains a strong, informed voice in public policy, and your involvement makes that possible.
We also wrapped up a successful Transportation Conference in early June. A special thank you to all who attended, exhibited, or sponsored the event. We were honored to hear from FDOT Secretary Jared W. Perdue, PE, and inspired by our keynote speaker Jason Barger, whose dynamic message on intentional leadership and culture offered both personal insight and professional motivation.
We’re also excited to launch the New Florida Stormwater Rule Seminar Series, starting June 18 and continuing monthly through November. This six-part virtual series will provide timely and essential guidance on the new stormwater rule and its implications for civil engineers, developers, and public agencies. The series will break down the new rule and offer practical insights into compliance, performance criteria, permitting, and policy impacts. You can learn more and register at the event page here.
Looking ahead, I encourage you to make plans to join us for the 2025 FES | ACEC Florida Annual Conference, taking place from July 30 to August 2 at the JW Marriott Marco Island. This signature event is one of the most valuable opportunities of the year for professional development, networking, and business growth. Sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are also available – don’t miss your chance to be part of this high-impact event.
We are also in the midst of a significant transition: after nearly 30 years, the FES | ACEC Florida headquarters building has been sold. While it is bittersweet to close this chapter, we are looking ahead with optimism as we build the future in our new location. Please note that staff will be unavailable on June 20 and 23–24 during the move, and we appreciate your patience as we complete this transition. The staff has done an incredible job of preparing for the move, and I would like to express my sincere appreciation.
Thank you again for your partnership and support throughout this year. Together, we continue to advance, protect, and promote the engineering profession in Florida. I look forward to seeing many of you this summer.
Best regards,
Rick Acree, PE
